Move Snapchat Memories to iPhone and Apple Photos with the right dates

Repair the export first so each photo and video carries its real date and location, then import the repaired folder into Apple Photos on a Mac (File → Import) or upload it at icloud.com/photos from any computer. With iCloud Photos turned on, the memories then appear on your iPhone on the right days.

Step by step

  1. Download your Snapchat export on a computer (how).
  2. Open MemoriesBack in Chrome or Edge, select all ZIP parts and repair. Unzip the result.
  3. Mac: open Photos → File → Import and choose the unzipped folder (the derived folder holds the repaired files; originals holds files that needed no change).
  4. Windows or no Mac: sign in at icloud.com/photos and upload the files.
  5. On iPhone, make sure iCloud Photos is on. The memories sync in by capture date.

Check one photo

Before importing everything, open one repaired photo in Photos and look at its info panel: it should show the day you took it and, if Snapchat recorded one, the place. “Recently Added” always shows the import day — that is normal.

What about captions and videos?

Photo captions and stickers are merged onto the photo, so they show in Apple Photos. Videos get their date and location written in, but captions are not burned into video files yet; the PNG stays next to the video and the included album page shows it on top. See Snapchat Memories videos.

Questions

Can I do this only on my iPhone?

Not with MemoriesBack: it runs in Chrome or Edge on a computer, because exports are often several gigabytes.

Will this create duplicates in iCloud?

Only if you import the same memories twice. Import the repaired folder once, and skip any memories you already saved to your camera roll from Snapchat.
