How to download all your Snapchat Memories (step by step)
Open Snapchat’s My Data page (Settings → My Data in the app, or accounts.snapchat.com), select Memories, choose “all time” or a date range, and submit. Snapchat emails you when the export is ready — it says it aims to deliver within 7 days, and large exports can take longer. Download it from See exports → Download, ideally on a computer.
Step by step
- In the Snapchat app, tap your profile → the gear icon → My Data. This opens accounts.snapchat.com (you can also go there directly and log in).
- Under “Select data to include”, turn on Memories. If you see Export JSON Files, turn it on too — the JSON holds each memory’s exact time and location.
- Turn the date range off to get everything, or pick a range.
- Confirm your email and press Submit.
- When the email arrives, open My Data → See exports → Download. Download every part if there is more than one.

What you get
Depending on your account and the options you chose, the download is one or more ZIP files. Media exports contain files such as 2021-03-02_<ID>-main.jpg and, for snaps with captions or stickers, a matching -overlay.png. Some exports contain only an index.html page with download links instead of the media — see what to do when your export only has links.
Before you import into your photo library
Exported files usually show the day you downloaded them, and captions sit in separate PNG files. Fix both first, otherwise your library fills up with wrongly dated photos. MemoriesBack repairs the export in your browser: it merges captions onto photos and writes the original dates and places into photos and videos. Your oldest 100 photos are free.
Questions
How long does a Snapchat data export take?
Snapchat says it strives to deliver data within 7 days; larger exports and longer date ranges can take more time. You get an email when it is ready.
Can I download Snapchat Memories on my phone?
You can request the export from the app, but Snapchat recommends downloading it on a computer. Large exports are hard to unzip and repair on a phone.
Does exporting delete my Memories?
No. Requesting your data makes a copy; your Memories stay in Snapchat.
